Online enrolment questions and answers

We're pleased to be able to offer fast-track online enrolment directly through this web site and our secure internet payment facility.

How do I enrol online?

Browse our online course directory, then:

for each course you select, click 'Add to Basket' - you may choose as many courses as you wish
check out your basket - at this point, be sure to review the course(s) you've chosen
complete the short registration process
pay with your credit/debit card

For which courses may I enrol online?

Most of our courses are available for online enrolment. However, you can't enrol online for free courses, so please download our paper enrolment form for these.

For some courses, you need to come for an interview before you can enrol. The interview is designed to help and guide you. If you're successful, your interviewer will give you an authorisation code - you can then use this to enrol online.

Are my details kept private?

Yes. When you select 'check out basket', you'll go to our secure server to enter your personal details. You may verify that the server is secure by double-clicking the padlock icon in your web browser. (This icon commonly appears at the bottom of your browser window or in the address bar, depending on which web browser you use.) The pages on our secure server also contain a link to a site where you can check the authenticity of our security certificate.

Is it safe to pay by credit/debit card on the internet?

We use NatWest Bank and Capita Software Services to collect your card details. These organisations routinely handle large volumes of card transactions securely.

Which credit/debit cards can I use for payment?

VISA, MasterCard, Switch, Solo, JCB, Maestro, Electron.

Can I enrol online if I'm eligible for a reduced fee?

No. We can only accept full-price course fees online. If you're eligible for a reduced fee, please contact us.

Why do you need to know my date of birth?

Our courses are normally subsidised by the government, and the government requires us to have the date of birth for every funded student. The information is used for statistical monitoring of student participation - e.g. how many students of a certain age choose certain courses and so on. The date of birth is also helpful in identifying students with similar names.

Why do you need to have information on ethnic origin and disability?

Our funding body asks us for this information, and uses it to monitor our services - making sure we provide services fairly. We use information on disability to help us make sure we're able to meet your needs whilst providing courses for you.

Is it possible to cancel my enrolment and receive a refund?

Yes. This is subject to conditions - please see the refunds and cancellations section for further details.

What confirmation do I get once I've enrolled online?

Within a few minutes, you'll get an email confirming your enrolment. You'll also get an email confirming that we've received your payment.

I've registered for online enrolment previously, but have forgotten my password. Can I have a password reminder?

Please add any course(s) of your choice to your basket. After you've checked out your basket, you can choose to be sent a password reminder.

Do I have to pay to use the College car park?

To use our car park, you must display a parking permit in your vehicle.

If your course lasts five weeks or less, there's no charge for the car park and we'll send you a Visitor Parking Permit.
If your course is in the daytime and lasts more than five weeks, you'll need to buy a permit from our Finance Cash Office.
If you attend a free literacy and/or numeracy course or you get help with your course fees, you may also be entitled to free parking.
