Level: This is a Level 5 course.

What is the Diploma in Management course?

This course is suitable for all those who are, or aspire to be, ‘middle’ managers. Suitable entry qualifications include Certificate in Management Level 3; NVQ 3 in Management, HNC or work based experience.

The course will enable you to gain new skills and develop existing knowledge and understanding of a range of general management theories both from the course tutors and your fellow students.

NB An interview is required before you can enrol on this course.

  • Managing financial and non-financial resources
  • Planning to meet customer and quality requirements
  • Effective communication and information management
  • Managing performance

Optional units offered:

  • Recruitment and selection
  • Developing personnel and personal performance
  • Managing marketing activities

Teaching and Learning

Lessons will be a combination of seminars, discussions, group and individual work. You will be encouraged to participate in and contribute to classroom sessions.

Assessment details

There is no formal examination at the end of the course; however, you will be assessed continuously by a series of written assignments that relate very closely to your actual workplace, one of which will be marked by the CMI. You will be required to undertake some academic reading and to reference your work accordingly.

Progression

Level 7 Executive Diploma in Management or towards Chartered Management status.

NB The College will be closed on Monday 23 February & 8 June 2009

Extra costs: Writing materials, paper, A4 file. You may also like to purchase a general management textbook approximately £20, your tutor will make some recommendations.
