Alton College

Governance

The College is led by the Principal, Jane Machell, and her management team, supported by a Corporation consisting of 19 Governors. The Corporation is responsible for the strategic direction and the effective management of the College.

The main Corporation meets as a Board of Governors twice-termly and occasionally for special meetings. All Governors serve on at least one Committee, suited to their experience and interests.

In addition, the Corporation aims to appoint one external member on to each Committee, as a way of successor planning.

Comments

"Governance is strong. Governors are committed and support and challenge the principal and senior managers well. They are well informed about the work of the college and monitor its academic and financial performance carefully. Their expertise in areas such as finance and estate management is used particularly well to support the development of the college."
