AC Equestrian Team's Hickstead success!

Alton College’s Equestrian Team literally jumped for joy when they competed in the Hurstpierpoint College National Schools Championships at the All England Show Jumping Course at Hickstead this summer.

The talented team of current students are: Georgie Heeney previously at Eggars School, Charlotte Smith previously at St Nicholas’ School, Fleet and Ellie Rudd previously at Amery Hill School.

Georgie also rides for the Hampshire Showjumping Team and aspires to be a sports presenter, Charlotte competes nationally with Pony and Riding Clubs and wants to study to be Veterinary Surgeon and Ellie competes with Pony Club and hopes  to become an Equine Physiotherapist.

The girls joined hundreds of brilliant young show jumpers to ride in the hoof-steps of World Class show jumpers at the fantastic All England Show Jumping Course at Hickstead in Sussex. The event was the Hurstpierpoint College National Schools Championships and took place in August.

Jan Symes, Alton College's Welfare Manager coordinated the team and said: ‘It was nail-biting to watch as two went ‘clear’ but an unlucky stop at the last fence for Ellie meant they were not in the jump-off. However they still came a very credible 15th  out of 45 teams and are already planning their tactics for next year!’.

STOP PRESS Last week Georgie won the Novice Stakes at Hickstead and qualified both her horses for  theInternational Arena at Hickstead jumping over 1.20m. Well done Georgie!
