Beautiful sounds at Wessex Arts concert

After the successful Welcome Fest at the end of term, music students at Alton College joined together with prospective students for an exciting afternoon of musical workshops which culminated in an evening concert.

Items ranged from contemporary rock musicians playing PJ Harvey songs led by John Moline through to a beautiful setting of folk song 'Old Abram Brown' by Benjamin Britten led by Pam Edwards. The concert even featured a new composition written that very afternoon by current and future members of the Specialist Jazz Course led by Phil Singleton.

The unnamed composition was homage to European jazz. The concert also featured a setting of Shakespearian Sonnets by George Shearing led by David Gibson, and some beautifully played solo performances from Bryony Lewis, Joe Boon and Guy.
