College County runners placed Nationally
Congratulations to two Alton College students who recently participated in the English Schools Cross Country Championships as part of the Hampshire Schools Team. Nathan Gibson, previously at Weydon School, and Freya Davis, previously at Hawley Place School took part in the competition in Blackburn and both the girls and boys teams finished second overall. Hampshire Athletics sponsored certificates for all those who participated, and the College students were presented with theirs by the Principal, Jane Machell, last week. This is the fourth year that Freya has been part of the Hampshire Schools team, and the first time Nathan has raced for Hampshire as he was previously part of the Surrey Schools Team. Freya studies Physical Education at Alton College and hopes to study Sports Rehabilitation at St Mary’s university in the future, whereas Nathan hopes to study Maths at university. Both students focus their sporting attention solely on running and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and experience of racing against others at the Championships.
