Duke of Edinburgh Training

Over half term several Year 1 Duke of Edinburgh students taking their Gold award spent the weekend on Dartmoor practising their navigation skills in preparation for the their Gold expedition later this year in the Peak District. Twelve students took on the fog and mist of Dartmoor and covered around 15 kilometres of rain drenched terrain and they even negotiated a river crossing.

Led by the Hampshire Outdoor Duke of Edinburgh team and the Head of Student Support at Alton College, the group had a fantastic experience.  Stuart Cousens from Hampshire Outdoor DofE has written to the College saying:

"The students were a credit to the College. Both myself and Jill commented on how polite and willing to learn all the students were. We work with a lot of schools and colleges and your students really are a credit to the College".
