Gifted & Talented event inspires Year 9s
Over 120 Year 9 pupils from feeder schools have been inspired to aim for the country's top universities as part of our Gifted and Talented programme.
Pupils and their parents attended the event which began with a presentation by guest speaker Dr. Wilkins of the University of Oxford. The inspirational speech included top tips on how to make the most of opportunities at school and college to help prepare future university applications.
Pupils then broke off into groups to take part in workshops designed to encourage creative and critical thinking. Sessions included Making Choices, Tell Me About A Banana and My Story. It was a great chance for pupils from Amery Hill, Eggar's, The Petersfield School, Mill Chase, Robert Mays, Perins and Weydon to meet each other and share their ideas.
The More Able and Talented provision at Alton College includes Extension Qualifications, Applying to Competitive Courses enrichment and curriculum support.
