Impressive Comic Relief contribution!
Students at Alton College raised over £1,000 from a variety of events, cake sales and collections for Comic Relief last week. Over £500 was raised on campus and as the government has pledged to match all funds raised by students in the UK pound for pound, the total amount has doubled!
The Alton College Students’ Union organised a cake sale over lunchtime held in the refectory, the Sports Council arranged a dodgeball tournament and the Skills for Learning students decided that the best way to raise money was to all wear fancy dress (including their teachers), make cakes and sell them across campus. The flamboyantly attired group swept around the College enticing everyone to buy their red nose inspired cakes. Even the College's Nursery for under 5's got involved contributing to the final amount.
Several Skills for Learning students met up with the new Students’ Union President, Tom Chapman, previously at Eggars School and Vice President, Tallulah Small, previously at The Petersfield School to pass over the money raised by their cake sale. Pictured alongside Tom and Tallulah are Issy Mealey, Chloe Stephenson and Jordan Boorah.
