National Apprenticeship Week

For National Apprenticeship Week, we are delighted to announce the introduction of Customer Service Apprenticeships offered at NVQ Level 2 Intermediate and NVQ Level 3 Advanced.

Customer Service is at the heart of all businesses across a range of industries and in this demanding climate it is crucial that employers provide excellent Customer Service in order to succeed and grow to achieve a competitive edge. Training is Government funded with the aim to provide a high quality, work based route for individuals in the skills that employers need for their business. Small businesses enjoy the added incentive of £1500 to take on an apprentice.

In East Hampshire, there has been an over 50% increase in the number of people beginning apprenticeships over the last academic year, with 280 people taking up places in 2009-10 rising to 430 for the year 2010-11. Damian Hinds, MP for East Hampshire, who has welcomed the Government’s action to support more apprenticeship places and opportunities for young people commented that: “Making the transition from education to work is one of the most crucial moments in a young person’s life. These new apprenticeship courses represent a terrific opportunity by Alton College for students to build experience and work habits which will serve them throughout their careers."
“Apprenticeships have a central role to play in introducing young people to new industries and opening up real career paths and I am sure this new course will be a great success.”

Christine Burkie, Apprenticeship and Training Manager said, “We are very confident that this scheme will grow.  Positive feedback to date shows us it brings real results to both employer and employee.”

Further apprenticeships are available in Management, Team Leadership, Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Workforce.
