New students get the welcome treatment!

Almost 900 students who are planning for Alton to be their sixth form choice this September were welcomed today by the College. On a day when it tried to rain, but the sun shone for every crucial moment, the new students were given a taster of the College which acted as an ice breaker prior to starting in September.

Students were offered free travel by Stagecoach to get to College. There was music, a BBQ on the green, ice creams, time to meet others who are planning on taking the same subjects and to look around and feel the atmosphere of the College. Students were all given a short informal introduction into some of the subjects they want to study next year . Student Mentors, dressed in red were helpful in escorting students around and giving them the practical and honest information they wanted to hear.

One student commented, "I was so nervous about coming today, but I've met people who I'll be with on my courses so I'm really looking forward to starting here in September and don't feel anxious about it now."

The Welcome event has been a huge success and one the College will certainly put in the calendar again next year. See more pictures on our facebook page!
