Philosophy Plus Science

Philosophy students James Lester, previously at Salesian College, Aga Slusarska, previously at Mill Chase Academy and Henry Thomas, previously at The Petersfield School visited the University of Oxford for a Philosophy Plus Science Taster Day as part of Alton College's More Able and Talented Programme recently.

The students attended lectures on Thinking Machines, Computational Models and Moral Robots, Philosophy meets Set theory and Philosophy of Time and Space. The students described the lectures as academically challenging and said they provided a real insight into the courses on offer. They also thoroughly enjoyed having a taste of life as a student at the University of Oxford.

The students were also given a tour of Somerville College by a member of the University's Quidditch team followed by a demonstration mock philosophy interview and a talk from a current Oxford student (and University Challenge participant) on the day in the life of a Philosophy Plus student.
