Race for the Line

Alton College is the local hub for this year’s ‘Race for the Line – Micro:bit Model Rocket Car Competition’ which challenges school pupils from Yr 8-11 to design, build and race model rocket cars. The winning team will win a trip to South Africa to spend an unforgettable week with the BLOODHOUND team as they strive to break the Land Speed Record. The BLOODHOUND Project is a global Engineering Adventure, using a 1000mph world land speed record attempt to inspire the next generation to enjoy, explore and get involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Teams consist of up to four pupils, and they can register for the competition on the BLOODHOUND website www.bloodhoundssc.com until 30th November. Once schools have registered, Alton College will be hosting an event before Christmas, the winners of which will go on to the regional final in March, followed by the National final in June. All finalists will have their school name printed on the tailfin of the BLOODHOUND car.
