Samba fever prepares for festival
Children from local infant and junior schools have enjoyed learning samba music this week ahead of the Alton Community Festival tomorrow.
The College was loud and lively as the children played drums, tamborines and percussion instruments. They learnt what their instruments were called in Portugese and were ably helped by two Alton College music students. Thanks to the generous grants from East Hampshire District Council and Radian Housing, these sessions have taken place over two days with six schools in Alton benefitting from the sessions.
The Alton Community Festival will start at 2pm tomorrow (5th July) at Alton College and will include a barbecue, samba demonstrations, sports, club taster sessions and much more. It's not too late to get involved in the football either - we are looking for adult (16+) 5-a-side football teams to take part in a tournament during the afternoon. Contact Tina Osgood on Tina.Osgood@altoncollege.ac.uk if you're interested.
You'll also be able to watch a World Cup quarter final match to see who gets through to the semi finals next week.
