Singing in the Rain
Amazing AC student band Loyd were singing in the rain drawing large crowds at Butserfest this year.
The UK’s largest alcohol and drug-free festival this year celebrated its 10th year and Loyd were set to perform on the Introducing Stage, this year sponsored by Alton College, but ended up playing in the Acoustic Shack due to the weather. Talented music students competed in our Battle-of-the-Bands competition at or annual WelcomeFest in July, and rock group Loyd, consisting of Cameron Walker, previously at Perins School, Tom Pocock, previously at Bohunt School, Alfie Stickler, previously at Weydon School and Tim Stokkereit, previously at More House School were the winners. They are pictured here with Fawziyyah Hamid, President of the Students' Union.
Students and staff attended the event with lots of free festival goodies and spoke to lots of potential students, current students and Alton College alumni all taking shelter from the rain under the gazebo! The impressive line-up of bands drew visitors in their thousands and the weather did not dampen their spirits.
