Students Unloc Entrepreneurial Skills

Alton College students who have been participating in the Unloc Enterprise Academy have had the opportunity to work with leading lawyers from Blake Morgan LLP. The Unloc Enterprise Academy is a programme which enables schools and colleges to inspire, motivate and develop the enterprising mindsets of their young people. Personal development is at the heart of everything Unloc does and this programme embodies that ethos. As part of the twelve week programme the students have focused of an array of business and entrepreneurial concepts ranging from branding and marketing to legal concepts and structures.

As part of the Keeping it Legal session, members of Blake Morgan Solicitors visited College and covered all legal aspects of starting a new business. Kath Shimmin worked with the students covering subjects such as legal structures, employment law and contracts. Students had a fantastic time exploring concepts including what constitutes discrimination in the workplace, how can discrimination be prevented and different kinds of contracts.

Manager Director of Unloc, Hayden Taylor, commented: “It was exciting to have Blake Morgan with us at Alton College. The students were really engaged and thoroughly enjoyed working with Kath and the team. Partnerships are crucial to the success of the Unloc Enterprise Academy and Blake Morgan have really got behind these incredible young people”.

Kath Shimmin, Partner at Blake Morgan, commented: “Blake Morgan has its roots in the Solent community and recognises the importance of developing the skills and aspirations of the Entrepreneurs of the future. We are delighted to be working with the Enterprise Academy  to deliver this exciting programme for local students.“
