World Special Olympic Games

Best of luck to Foundation Learning student Ben Tyler who is representing GB in tennis at the World Special Olympic Games in Abu Dhabi! The Games start with the opening ceremony on Thursday 14th of March and go on to the 22nd. We look forward to following his progress at the games!

Ahead of his trip, Ben received a lovely message from his coach:

“It’s been an amazing journey and I wish Ben the best of luck for the games and regardless of the result I am a very proud coach. He’s managed to bag a sponsorship, numerous county awards, lots of medals from national competitions and even played a doubles match with Tim Henman! The team we’ve created has grown from just Ben and Ben to now being two coaches, a strengthening and conditioning coach, a hitting partner and social media guru.

You’ve shown that there’s so much more to Down’s syndrome tennis than just weekly sessions and you’ve even met a 5 year old Down’s syndrome player at All England last week, who aspires to follow your footsteps! You are a man of the people and I know you are going to smash it! Good luck from everyone here at BenandBenTennis. You are our hero!”
