Important Dates

  • Wed 24th June - College Open Evening
    • Lessons finish at 12.40pm
    • Buses will depart College at 1pm
  • Fri 26th June - UCAS Registration Day
    • All students must register for UCAS at one of the advertised sessions in the LRC
  • Thu 2nd July - Progression Fair
    • 8.50am, 10.25am & 3.15pm lessons run as usual
    • 11.25am-12.30pm - lunch break
    • 12.30pm-3pm - follow Progression schedule (to be handed out during PLD next week)
  • Wed 8th July – Last day of Teaching for this Academic Year
    • Full day of timetabled lessons
  • Thu 9th July – Welcome Fest
    • For students starting College in September
    • No timetabled lessons for current students

UCAS 2016 Registration Day

  • In order to apply to university you must REGISTER for UCAS – ALL students must attend one of the following sessions in the LRC – even if you’re not 100% sure that you will be applying to university you should register to keep your options open
  • Friday 26th June
  • @ 9.30am / 10am / 10.30am / 11am / 11.30am / 12pm / 1.30pm / 2pm / 2.30pm / 3pm / 3.30pm / 4pm
  • YOU MUST be in the LRC 5mins before the session start time to allow for logging on. Late comers will be turned away to attend the next session
  • Alternative sessions will be arranged for students on trips etc – further details to follow

Progression Fair - 2nd July

  • Thursday 2nd July – 11.25am to 3.00pm
  • Timetabled lessons will be replaced by a programme for all including:
  • Presentations by Whatuni , visits to the Fair, sessions on Finance and UCAS applications
  • You will be given a timetable for the above in PLD on the 25th June

    • Guaranteed offers and interviews for many courses - providing standard entry requirements are met
    • Brighton Plus Programme for students who meet certain criteria

    • Guaranteed offer up to 40 tariff points lower than advertised entry requirements – compulsory events must be attended

    • Guaranteed offer of a place for non-interview courses or a guaranteed interview for courses that require it – certain criteria applies

Bursaries 2015-2016

  • If you receive a bursary this year or think you might now be eligible, you must apply by collecting, completing and returning a 2015/16 application – available from the Student Hub
  • The 16-19 Discretionary Bursary fund aims to help you with the cost of your course. Transport and equipment (including books) are considered priority
  • To qualify your household income must be under £22,000 and if your household income is under £16,190 from September 2015 you will also be eligible for free College meals
  • You may also be entitled to the 16-19 Vulnerable £1,200 Bursary – see Bursary form for details

Foundation Course in Art and Design

  • Students thinking about a career in Art and Design should come along to a meeting on Friday 19th June in Rm 863 Michael Gray building at 1 pm to meet staff
  • If you think you want to go to University to study the following subjects, then you will find this talk useful:
    • Fine art / Graphic Design / Illustration / Animation / Photography / Film / Fashion and Textiles / Styling and branding / Architecture / Interior Design / Jewellery / Product Design /Craft
  • Applications for the one year Foundation Diploma course can be submitted before Christmas this year.

For all students with lockers

  • ALL locker keys must be returned to the Student Hub by Monday 6th July for a £10 cash refund. Locker keys cannot be kept and used for the next academic year
  • You must clear your locker as they are emptied and cleaned over the holidays. No responsibility will be taken for any items left behind
  • Lockers for 2015-16 will be issued during September
