Important Dates

  • Tue 1st July – UCAS Registration Day
    • All students must register for UCAS at one of the advertised sessions in the LRC
  • Thu 3rd July - Progression Fair
    • 8.50am, 10.25am & 3.15pm lessons run as usual
    • 11.25am-12.30pm - lunch break
    • 12.30pm-3pm - follow Progression schedule
  • Fri 4th July – Taster Day
    • For Year 10 students of partner schools by invitation
    • No timetabled lessons for current students
    • Simply Go 2nd bus in and 1st bus home for student helpers
  • Wed 9th July – Last day of Teaching for this Academic Year
    • Full day of timetabled lessons
    • Simply Go buses - normal Wednesday service
  • Thu 10th July – Welcome Fest
    • For students starting College in September
    • No timetabled lessons for current students
    • Arrival on Simply go late buses in and leave on early buses home

UCAS 2015 Registration Day

  • In order to apply to university you must REGISTER for UCAS -ALL students must attend one of the following sessions in the LRC:-
  • on Tuesday 1st July
  • @ 9.30am / 10am / 10.30am / 11am / 11.30am / 12pm / 1.30pm / 2pm / 2.30pm / 3pm / 3.30pm / 4pm
  • YOU must be in the LRC 10 mins before the session start time to allow for logging on. Late comers will be turned away to attend the next session
  • You will then be provided with further information on applying through UCAS on the 3rd July

Progression Fair

  • Thursday 3rd July
  • Collect your timetable from your tutor TODAY (Thursday 26th June)
  • A separate programme will be given to students who have signed up for the work based sessions. If you wish to go to this and haven’t let your tutor know please do so today and go and see Kim in the Hub

  • Please ‘enrol’ on the Student Mentor course on Moodle, all the presentations will be there if you missed any training sessions.

The Alternative is hiring!

  • The Alternative (Alton College’s student-run magazine) is hiring
  • The Alternative is looking for a group of writers, artists, gig-goers, cinephiles, cooks and opinionated individuals to contribute to the magazine over the next year.
  • If you’re interested, come to a short meeting on Wednesday 2nd July at 12.40pm in room 713 to meet the new editorial team and discuss ideas.

Bursaries 2014-15

  • If you receive a bursary this year or think you might now be eligible, you must apply by collecting, completing and returning a 2014/15 application – available from the Student Hub
  • The 16-19 Discretionary Bursary fund aims to help you with the cost of your course. Transport and equipment (including books) are considered priority
  • To qualify your household income must be under £22,000 and if your household income is under £16,190 from September 2014 you will also be eligible for free College meals
  • You may also be entitled to the 16-19 Vulnerable £1,200 Bursary – see Bursary form for details
