Jazz Band 2008 - 2009

"I am really excited about jazz at Alton College this year. The Jazz Factory - run by the legend that is Mick Foster, have a monthly residency at the Hen & Chicken in Froyle, and gave a storming pre Christmas performance. The Big Band - which rehearses first thing on Monday morning [8.50pm] and the ACJB [which now doesn't rehearse on a Wednesday afternoon] have already given three performances - perhaps the highlight being at the Jazz Café on 15th January, when both bands played out of their collective skins. Future performances include the Farnham Festival in March [ACJB], whilst all three bands will be playing the Isle of Wight Jazz Festival [19th April] and the Swanage Jazz Festival [11th July]. There is also a proposed tour to Italy."

Martin Read (Head of Music)

" ACJB. A great way to meet people, have a laugh, and probably the most gigs I've ever played in such a short space of time! I'm just hoping the bands at uni are up to scratch..."
Martha Russell - studying on the jazz course at Birmingham Conservatoire

"We were so good, we made HYJO look stupid..."
