IT is now embedded in our society and is a vital part of industries as diverse as entertainment, banking and manufacturing  and Leisure. The growth in IT services, networking and data management is a key feature in global economies and the IT job market remains strong. If you are interested in a career in IT or a related field then this two year programme will give you a good understanding across a broad range of IT specialisms.

External and Internal Assessment 

Studying at Alton College:

Lessons will take place in our specialist IT centre and will comprise a mix of theoretical and practical sessions. A selection of assignments and homework tasks will be set to cover the unit content. The assignments may be practical, research based or theoretical and may be linked to a period of work experience.

Entry requirements:

Students should normally have achieved at least five GCSEs at grade 9-4. Alternatively, if you have studied at Level 2, you should have achieved a merit or above.

National Extended Diploma in IT allows for progression after Alton College to degree courses in:

Computer Networks Security
Business Computing
Forensic Computing
Network Technologies

Students also progress to ICT related Apprenticeships or straight into employment in a variety ICT industries.
