Course Content:

At Alton College on the Creative Media Level 2 you will study:

  • Comic Books and Graphic Novels – You will analyse existing comic books and graphic novels then write and create your own.
  • Print Production – You will invent a film and then create the advertising campaign for it. Posters, magazine covers and more.
  • Photography – You will create an exhibition portfolio after a trip to Marwell Zoo for some ‘wildlife’ photography.
  • Film Trailers – You will work in a team to create, film and edit a trailer for an original film.

Studying at Alton College:

Lessons are focused on developing the technical skills necessary to produce effective media products and an understanding of how the industry works. You might be working individually editing a video or researching a specific product, or working in pairs to complete a storyboard exploring narrative. You will also work in small groups and present your work to the class. You will have class discussion with your teacher and analyse existing media products before researching your own. You will also have the choice to attend field trips throughout the year to use your practical skills.

Entry requirements:

Students should normally have achieved a mixture of Grades 3 and 4 at GCSE (C and Ds) and we recommend a Grade 4 (C grade) for GCSE English.  You should have an interest in creative subjects.
