Course Content:

The Cambridge Technical Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care course is divided into units (subjects) and there are two types of unit, which make up any one course.  The course consists of:

4 Core Units - Nationally all students on this course study these units.

4 Optional Units - These are chosen by the College from a list provided by OCR.

In addition you will study English and Maths at a level appropriate for you unless you already have a GCSE grade A – C.

Assessment:

To achieve the CTEC level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care you need to complete and pass all eight units.

4 core units and 4 optional units, all units will be assessed through course work, which will be set.

Studying at Alton College:

A team of lecturers teaches the course, which lasts one year, and co-ordinated by a programme manager, you will also have a tutor.  The team meets regularly to plan and co-ordinate assignments and activities and to discuss students’ progress.

You will have a mixture of formal and less formal learning experiences. Some sessions will be in the form of lectures but you will also participate in a mixture of activities – whether working individually or in groups. You will participate in role plays, discussions and presentations. 

Entry requirements:

Students should normally have achieved a Grade 3 profile at GCSE. For GCSEs which remain with the old grading system, a Grade 3 is equivalent to a Grade D. 

To study this course, you should also have an interest in working with people.
