Course Content:

Working in an Engineering environment to learn a combination of Mechanical and Electronic practical skills. 

Skills learnt include:- Working safely, Effective and Efficient Working, Using and Communicating Technical Information, Hand Fitting and Mechanical Bench Work, Using lathes for Turning Operations and Assembling and Testing Electronic Circuits.

This course will progress to an Apprenticeship in Engineering or with suitable grades on your complete program to the level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.

The PEO is part of the Apprenticeship framework meaning that with this qualification you will be part way towards your apprenticeship qualification.


Generation of a written Portfolio to evidence skills learnt.

Studying at Alton College:

Lessons will incorporate substantial  amount of practical activity with some theoretical content and written portfolio requirements. 

Entry requirements:

Students should normally have achieved a Grade 3 profile at GCSE. For GCSEs which remain with the old grading system, a Grade 3 is equivalent to a Grade D.  To study this subject you should have an interest in technical subjects.
