Alton College

Choosing the Right Course

It is important that you understand which level of course you can apply for. There are 3 Levels and an Entry Level offered at Alton College. Your choice depends on how many points you 'score' for your GCSEs. This is calculated by allocating points to each GCSE grade you achieve.

To calculate your average GCSE score, the number of points for each GCSE are added together and divided by the number of subjects you have taken. Only full GCSEs are included in the calculations.

GCSE Grades = Points:
A* = 8 pts   A = 7 pts   B = 6 pts   C = 5 pts   D = 4 pts
E = 3 pts  F = 2 pts   G = 1 pt
