"Alton College provides high quality education and training in an inclusive, supportive and challenging environment, enabling young people, adults and the community to achieve their potential."
Working as part of a very successful and committed team, Governors are responsible for the educational character and mission of the College, its quality strategy and its services to the local community. They are responsible for the proper use of public sector funds and for safeguarding the College's assets. These responsibilities are carried out through membership of a number of committees:
- Curriculum and Quality
- Human Resources
- Policy, Planning and Finance
- Search and Governance
If you would like to volunteer your skills and experience for public benefit and have a genuine interest in young people, adult learners and post-16 education, please contact:
Dr Toni Baldwin,
Clerk to the Corporation,
Being a Governor involves attending around 8 evening meetings a year at the College. We also hold a strategic "Away Day" which involves a 24 hour event at the College. Please note that as Governors are volunteers, this is an unpaid position, but travel expenses for attendance at meetings may be claimed.
We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity and to celebrating diversity. Applications from people from ethnic minorities, and those with disabilities are welcomed.
