We hope you enjoyed WelcomeFest. If you missed the leaflets, or were unable to attend the event, the getting ahead summer activities are available here
WelcomeFest is open to all students who have applied to Alton College for September 2016.
What's on @acwelcomefest?
We kick off at 10am when you all arrive at the Old Odiham Road entrance. Travel on the day is FREE to and from College on all Stagecoach buses, just show the driver your email invite on your phone or tablet or even print it out.
You'll register in the Refectory and receive your festival wristband which guarantees entry to all areas plus your festival programme. Next our amazing Students' Union, student ambassadors and staff will guide you down to our Bowling Green.
From 10.15am-12.30 all of our subject areas are OPEN. We ask that you choose at least two to visit and take part in a workshop or get inspired by a short talk. Your programme will give you all the information you need but if in doubt please just ask a student (they're in red and mauve t-shirts) or a member of staff. We will stamp your hands on exit of the subject areas and by 12:30 everyone should have at least two stamps.
We know you've just finished your exams and can't wait to start here in September, so each subject area has an optional leaflet of ideas you can use for #gettingahead over summer. They will also be available here on this page after the day.
You'll be hungry by now and ready to relax so come back to the Bowling Green between 12:30 and 13:00 and grab a BBQ lunch and ice-cream and watch talented X Factor musician and Alton College alumnus, Joe Waller, perform on our stage.
If you fancy some peace and quiet at any time during the day please visit our Quiet Zone, an outside garden space dedicated to relaxing.
Sports Trials take place up on the Sports field from 12.45pm. Please pre-register here for Sports.
Our brilliant Battle-of-the-Bands takes place from 1-2.30pm where student musicians will play to win a slot on the introducing stage at Butserfest. Judges include Mike, Butserfest organiser, Joe Waller and John from East Hants District Council.
We'll finish by 3pm and you're free to go home!
Remember to bring suncream, hats, sunglasses - of course it will be hot! Also bring cash as we have Starbucks and a pop-up Shop for coffees and snacks.
If you have any questions before the day please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Student Hub on 01420 592200
